Geekom Laptop Fingerprint Recognition Issues and Solutions

Updated on April,21, 2026

1. Common Issues

  • Unable to Register Fingerprint
Repeatedly prompts “Please try again” or “Finger not detected” during registration, never completing.
  • Recognition is Insensitive / Frequently Fails
Fingerprint can be registered but often fails to unlock, requiring password/PIN to access.
  • Registration Successful but Unable to Unlock
Shows registration completed, but unlocking still fails to recognize fingerprint.
  • No Response from Sensor
No vibration, no prompt, no light change when finger is placed on sensor.

2. General Basic Handling

  • Clean Finger and Sensor
    1) Finger should be dry, free of sweat, oil, peeling skin, or wounds
    2) Wipe the sensor gently with a dry cloth, no dust, water stains, or protective film covering
  • Change Finger Angle
Do not press only one spot; try using the fingertip, edges, and sides
  • Restart the Computer
Resolves temporary system freezes and service abnormalities
  • Confirm Login Method is Normal
Windows system requires setting a password and PIN before fingerprint setup
  • Confirm Fingerprint Login Service is Enabled
Press Win+R, enter services.msc, find Windows Biometric Service, ensure it is “Running” and startup type is “Automatic”.

3. Standard Solution Process (Most Effective)

  • Step 1: Delete Existing Fingerprints
Windows: Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options → Windows Hello Fingerprint → Remove
  • Step 2: Re-register Fingerprints
Windows: Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options → Windows Hello Fingerprint → Set up (Follow the on-screen instructions, repeatedly lift and place your finger down again, allowing the sensor to capture fingerprint features from different angles until the progress bar completes.)
